Ginsights Literary Events at Olims Bar & Bistro

Presented in partnership with Canberra Writers Festival, Big River Distilling Co, Paperchain Bookstore, and Marion – Elevating Writers and their Art.

Ginsights is an informal literary event held regularly in the Carlton Lounge at Olims Bar and Bistro.  Guest authors from Canberra, our region and other parts of Australia share conversation and cocktails with the keen readers of Canberra. Paperchain bookstore staff come along to sell copies of the authors books. Olims Bar and Bistro will be serving a cocktail of the night featuring Big River spirits and a Big River G&T, in addition to their usual selection of drinks and dining options.

Tuesday, 22nd September – Anne Freeman

On Tuesday 22 September from 6pm, Olims Bar and Bistro will host Ginsights with guest author Anne Freeman, to discuss her recently published novel The Time After Now.

Anne writes contemporary fiction about women who are stuck in life and the extraordinary ways they shake themselves loose. Her stories are always engaging and sometimes funny with reluctant adventures, sexy escapades and friendships that uplift.

Anne’s novels and short stories have been recognised in literary competitions including the Romance Writers of Australia Valerie Parv Award, the Hawkeye Publishing Manuscript Development Prize, the Grindstone Literary International Novel Prize, the Queensland Writers’ Centre Adaptable Program, the CYA Writers & Illustrators Competition, and the Somerset Book Awards for Literary & Contemporary Fiction.

The evening will feature a formal Q&A, followed by the opportunity to meet Mehreen over cocktails and continue the conversation in a relaxed and intimate setting. Our bookselling partner, Paperchain Bookstore, will have copies of The Paradise Pact available for purchase, with a book signing by Anita on the night. Olims Bar & Bistro will offer a cocktail of the night featuring Big River spirits, alongside a Big River G&T and their full menu of drinks and dining options.

All are welcome to come along to join this informal reader/writer conversation co-sponsored by Big River Distilling Co, Canberra Writers Festival and MARION.

Tickets are $12 and bookings are required.
